Navigation

Navigation through IHM can usually be done using three different methods. Actions can be performed by selecting the appropriate item from a menu bar or icon at the top of each screen using a left-click of the mouse. Most actions can also be performed with the right-click of a mouse and selecting the appropriate item. However, the quickest way to perform an action and navigate through the system is using shortcut keys also known as Hot Keys.

Shortcuts and Hot Keys

You do not need to use your mouse to navigate In House Mortgage and it is often faster to use the keyboard. All data screens (General Information, Subject Property, Liabilities…) support the following shortcuts and hot keys. Some hot keys may require two keys simultaneously to execute the task, i.e. the Ctrl-S representation indicates that the Ctrl key must be pressed simultaneously with the S key on your keyboard.

By using a combination of keys simultaneously a user can complete a task quickly with the keyboard.
Typically, hot key combinations include the use of the Ctrl or Alt key and a letter key. Other shortcuts are
shown on the on the menu.

The following is a list of key functions and shortcuts that will help when navigating with the keyboard only.

Tab: Moves the cursor forward one field

Like most Windows based programs users navigate from field to field by pressing the Tab key. To go in reverse order press the Shift and Tab keys simultaneously.

Enter: Opens or executes the highlighted item

Select the Enter key when any item is highlighted on the left side of the loan overview, known as the navigation tree, and the corresponding screen will open. For example, selecting enter when a specific liability is highlighted will open the Liability Information screen so that data can be viewed or edited. Pressing the Enter key will open the highlighted item from any list.

Alt-F10: Same as a Right Mouse Click

Selecting the Alt plus F10 keys simultaneously, while in the Loan Overview screen will open a Hot Menu that is equivalent to right-clicking the mouse. The Hot Menu options will vary depending on what Loan Overview item is selected.

Ctrl-S: Save

Pressing these two (Ctrl and S) buttons simultaneously saves any changes you have made to the currentscreen, but leaves the screen open.

Ctrl-Q: Quick Save

Saves any changes and closes the current screen.

Crtl-X: Exit

Closes the current screen. A prompt will appear asking if you would like to save any changes made to the
screen.

Ctrl-N: Next Screen

Closes and saves any changes to the current screen and opens the next available screen. For example, while in the General Information screen, selecting Ctrl-N will close and save that screen and open the Subject Property screen (the next screen down on the Navigation Tree).

Ctrl-O: Return to Loan Overview screen

Makes the Loan Overview screen the current screen. The existing screen does not close, but moves to the
background. Pressing the Ctrl and O key a second time switches back to the sub-screen.

Ctrl-Delete: Deletes the highlighted item from the Loan Overview screen

Ctrl-Delete will delete the highlighted item from the Loan Overview screen. A prompt will appear when selected to confirm that the item should be deleted. Deleting certain items will have a larger effect than others. For example, deleting a borrower will delete all the information related to that borrower, while deleting a property (other than the subject property which can not be deleted) will only delete that property information and return the associated lien information to the Liabilities section.

One or more of the hot keys listed above are available in each screen. These keys are listed on the File menu of every data screen. If you want to review the list, just open any data screen and hit Alt+F (to open the File menu at the top of the screen).

Down Arrow

The down arrow will scroll through selections in a drop down box or will open a lookup screen when available. The down arrow can also be used to move the highlighted area down one item in the navigation tree or in any other list.

Left and Right Arrow Keys

To navigate the Loan Overview Screen, the left and right arrow keys can be used interchangeably with the up and down arrows on your keyboard to scroll between the selections in the Navigation Tree. Items on the Navigation Tree may contain a “+” or “–“ to the right signifying that the item can be expanded “+” to show more detail or collapsed “-“ to hide the details. To expand an item, use the right arrow key on your keyboard. To collapse an item, use the left arrow key. The left and right arrow keys can also be used to scroll through menu headings when the Alt key ispressed. Menus located at the top of the screen may be accessed by pressing the Alt key or by selecting the menu with a left-click of the mouse. Once the menu is highlighted the specific menu task may be selected by
using the directional arrow keys and then pressing the Enter key. Moving around in the Navigation Tree of the Loan
Overview screen.

In addition to using the mouse or the directional arrow keys, you can also search on the Loan Overview by typing any letter or number. For example, if you open a loan and hit M on your keyboard, the selection will jump to the Mortgage Data screen. If you hit a number, the selection will jump to the matching numbered item. If there is more than one numbered item, just hit the number again and the selection will jump to the next matching item. For example, hitting 2 might take you to the second deposit, hitting 2 again might take you to the second liability.

Alt Key: The Alt key can be used to access the Menu bar

Items located on the Menu Bars at the top of the screen may be accessed by using Alt key or by selecting the menu choice with a left-click of the mouse. Once the Menu list is displayed, you will notice that each selection will have an underlined letter. Selecting the underlined letter will commence that action or a specific menu task may be selected by using the up or down arrow key then pressing the Enter key.

Pressing the Alt key, by itself, will highlight the menu options when in any screen. The right arrow would highlight the Options heading and the left arrow would highlight the Interfaces heading. The up or down arrow will open the Interfaces menu list. Selecting any of the underlined letters will open that items menu list. For example, pressing the "A" key will open the Analyze menu list as displayed above. The Esc key will undo any Alt key action.

Selecting an Item from a List

Any time a list appears, whether it is in the Loan Ledger (a list of loan files to be viewed/edited) or it is part of a lookup field, there are several ways to identify the item to be selected. The mouse can always be used. The up and down arrow keys can be used to change the highlighted item and the Enter key used to select that item. The VCR buttons (directional arrow icons at the top of the screen) may be used in the same manner.
